Just my 2 cents

I got hit with the FBI virus a few years ago and was able to recover from it. The one I got must have had a date/time trigger on it as I was able to boot my computer in safe mode and then revert to a previous restore point which then allowed me to access everything. I ran antivirus, found nothing, and then ran malwarebytes and that is where the trojan was detected. Ever since I now scan my computer with antivirus, antimalware, and antispyware software at least monthly. I do the same with backing up files.
